All Good Gifts.

UPDATE.
THANK YOU to all who gave generously on our Harvest Giving Days.
St Saviour’s raised an incredible £2092 to help pay off the Parish Share.
All Saints on Sunday raised £505 for the improvements to the path area on the Town side of the Church. As well as church use, the path is used by the community to access All Saints Croft and the Blackpool Fields.

Harvest is a time for praise and giving. We thank and praise the Lord for all his wonderful provision for us, not only in the fields and our cupboards, but in all aspects of our blessed lives. To show our thanks, we like so many generations before us give of our excess to those who are more in need, whether sharing a garden glut with a neighbour or giving dried pasta and tins to the Food Bank.
In 1 Chronicles 29 we read David’s prayer of praise, giving thanks to God for all His provisions. David encourages his people to give gifts for the building of the Temple, they, and he, do so to a staggering degree.

The people rejoiced the offerings, for they had given freely and wholeheartedly to the” (v9)
We may not be building a new Temple but our churches have daily costs to cover, as well as a responsibility to pay towards the Diocese for the building of God’s Kingdom on earth. This Harvest, please give generously towards our Parish share at St Saviour’s, (amongst other things, it is from this collective pot that clergy are trained and paid), and the General Fund for All Saints.

“O our God, we thank you and praise your glorious name! But who am I, and who are my people, that we could give anything to you? Everything we have has come from you, and we give you only what you first gave us!are here for only a moment, visitors and strangers in the land as our ancestors were before us. Our days on earth are like a passing shadow, gone so soon without a trace”. (v13-15)

Please place your financial harvest gifts on the collection plate in an envelope labelled ‘Harvest Giving’. If giving by cheque please make it payable to either ‘Branston PCC’ for St Saviour’s, or  ‘PCC All Saints with Christchurch’ at All Saints. Thank you.
